Family photos don’t need to be all about posing and smiling at the camera!

Especially with younger kids involved, it’s so much more organic to just structure the session around play, interacting as a family, and having fun 😍😍

For Sophie and Oliver, this shoot has been a loooonnnng time coming! They initially had us booked for their wedding, pre Covid. After a bunch of postponed dates & reschedules, they ended up getting married closer to home … and now, 2 beautiful children later, we finally caught up for a family shoot on the beach.

It was so much fun, exploring the sandy shore, finding shells and sticks, climbing rocks, and just generally adventuring 😍

We are excited to announce our 2025 lighting workshop for wedding photography - Tuesday 18th March, in Cairns.

Join us for a full day, intensive, hands on deep dive into all things lighting related 😍

Although the workshop is presented in a wedding photography context, it’s equally applicable to portrait photography too.

The workshop is a full day, with 2 x live shooting sessions, plenty of theory, and some editing techniques too.

Total cost is $650 - secure your place with a $200 deposit 🥰

This month we have celebrated many things slowing down or wrapping up … not only the end of our busy wedding season, but also a Christmas party for Immi’s kindy, and a graduation celebration at daycare (they even wore gowns & hats - so cute!) … and also looking forward to new beginnings.

Immi has had the chance to visit her school for next year, and organise her super cute school uniform (even more special because it’s the same primary school that Amy went to, and the uniform is still the same!) We can’t believe we will soon have a school kid 🤯

Amy has still been battling her health issues, and with constant reactions to all the different antibiotics it’s looking super likely that we will travel overseas soon to Georgia 🇬🇪 (the country by Russia, not the US state!) to try an alternative treatment called phage therapy. Waiting on samples for testing to arrive at the moment (go FedEx go!) and then we will know more.

Other than that, with the easing of editing workload and Amy having a few good days, we have settled into a nice rhythm of “off-season” life .. lots of beach picnic days, Immi has been living in Grandma’s swimming pool, and just enjoying the moments that we can.

Today we dragged a very whingey pre-schooler along to the beach, and despite all that, managed to capture a handful of smiles and laughs amidst the (far more frequent) scowls and sass.

Over the weekend I was lucky enough to share in the beautiful elopement wedding of Jasmin & Michael 🥰

Their ceremony was down on the Cairns Esplanade, where they were joined by their parents & exchanged vows under the shade of the gorgeous trees. Afterwards, we headed out for a few photos at one of my favourite nearby spots.

Jaz & Michael are also expecting a new member of their family - so we made sure to work a few cute baby bump photos into the mix.

The golden late afternoon sun came to the party, and we got to spend some beautiful moments together 🥰

Jasmin & Michael, thank you both so much for trusting me to be there to capture the day for you! I had such a great time hanging out with you both ❤️❤️

If you or someone you know suffers from frequent or recurring UTIs, please share this story with them

In 2019, after the birth of my daughter, I developed a catheter-associated urinary tract infection (UTI). Although a five-day course of antibiotics seemed to suppress my symptoms, it didn’t fully clear the infection. Over the years, I experienced recurring UTIs, but every urine test came back negative. Despite this, I treated each infection with antibiotics, which would relieve my symptoms after about a week

In March of this year, the infections became more frequent, and the antibiotics took longer to work. My doctor suggested I might have an overactive bladder since no bacteria were detected in my tests. I began to question whether something else was at play. Another doctor advised against antibiotics since we couldn’t find any bacteria

In July, I decided to leave the infection untreated, hoping it would resolve on its own. Instead, I ended up running to the toilet every 30 minutes, day and night, with intense bladder pain. After two visits to the Emergency Department (ED) and various tests, I learned that I didn’t have spinal cord compression and was advised to consider pelvic health physical therapy

Desperate for relief, I tried antibiotics again, but they did little to help. I then waited two months before seeing a specialist urologist and gynecologist. He diagnosed me with chronic urinary tract infection, explaining that my recurrent infections likely stemmed from the initial infection after my daughter’s birth, which hadn’t been treated long enough

This condition isn’t widely recognized in the medical community, except in the UK. I’ve been prescribed antibiotics for at least six months to clear the infection from my bladder wall.Additionally, I underwent a procedure where a strong antibiotic and anti-inflammatory were injected into my bladder wall

This journey has been challenging, filled with ups and downs. I share my story to raise awareness of this debilitating condition and to prevent others from experiencing the same struggles. If you would like to know more please feel free to contact me

Hey guys! It’s me (Amy) It’s been a while since I’ve shared anything. If you’ve been following us for a while you’ll know I’ve been having a tough time with some health issues. After months of debilitating symptoms and an unknown cause, in September I was finally diagnosed with a chronic bladder infection that I acquired at the hospital after Immi’s birth. I’d like to share more about this soon but for now I’ll jump to this month’s extra special family session.

I never really know how I’m going to feel each day or what my symptoms will be like so it can be hard to plan things. Fortunately yesterday was a good day so we decided to go out to the beach. Just so happens that my dear friend Hannah was over and offered to come out with us and shoot the session for us.

This year in June Isaac and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. Initially we had planned to have a special photoshoot and vow renewal earlier in the year. I was going to borrow a wedding dress from a local supplier, have a beautiful bouquet and my hair and make up done. Isaac had spent a couple of months working out getting in peak shape for this shoot which we then had to cancel due to me being too unwell.

Since it was a gorgeous afternoon & Hannah had offered to come out to the beach with us we spontaneously decided to put on our wedding clothes and bring our wedding vows with us.

It might not have been the initial shoot we had planned but it turned out to be so magical. Thank you Hannah, you are such an amazing friend & incredible human ❤️

This month we celebrated Immi’s 5th birthday party at Goomboora park, after plenty of party food, pass the parcel, and cake - we all relocated from the playground down to the creek and the kids swam & splashed around for hours 😍

Isaac’s Mum came over from New Zealand to surprise Immi for her birthday, she came into daycare one afternoon to collect Immi, who had no idea this was happening. So cute! 🥰

One super cute thing that has been happening more frequently is Immi telling us how much she loves us 🥰 She will say “guess what?” and then “I love you” … just melts our hearts. 💕

We are running late on our monthly updates as life has been so crazy lately!

September was our last busy wedding month, and we have been spending lots of time at home with all the editing time. So we thought it would be cute to document a bit of “home life” in this month’s shoot … capturing our fav daily activities and just a beautiful reminder of the small moments.

The trampoline is a regular favourite - and late in the afternoons as the sun is about to dip behind the hills, you get this gorgeous golden light. Love the way it catches in Immi’s hair. She was stoked to see that she looks like Poppy from the Trolls movie in some of the shots!

Also featured is the marble run, which was a birthday present a few years ago and still gets used all the time. She loves talking to the marbles and getting them to take turns / buy tickets / etc - imaginative play is the best 🥰

A while ago we built a little herb garden in the back yard, and Immi loves getting her little watering can out to give the plants a drink.

Amy had surgery on her bladder in September, and now has at least 6 months of full dose antibiotics to make it through. Daily life swings between almost “normal” days, through to days where even getting out of bed is a mission. We are taking one day at a time, and trying to make the most of the good days ❤️

On Friday, Annie & Jarrod were married at the gorgeous Alamanda Chapel in Palm Cove.

Far North Queensland has become a fav destination for Annie & Jarrod - sharing a love of scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. With most of their guests making the trip up from Victoria - it was special to be able to share one of their favourite locations and celebrate their love.

After the ceremony we embraced the wind and had a play on the beach - Annie’s veil was swishing around in all the right ways 😍

Then it was back to party the night away under the coconut trees at NuNu - as the full moon rose out of the ocean.

On Saturday, Kealy and Sam celebrated their stunning wedding day up in Malanda.

We were blessed with the most gorgeous sunny weather, and some amazing golden light as the sun dipped below the rolling Malanda hills.

The rain stayed away for the entire day … until at around 10pm, I had already said my goodbyes and left to pack the car. I changed into my comfy clothes for driving home,
closed the boot … and felt a tiny few drops. After waiting a couple of minutes to check it was actually going to keep sprinkling - I quickly unpacked my gear again, set up some lighting in the carpark, and raced back inside. I wandered onto the pumping dance floor in my singlet, shorts, and bare feet … found Kealy & Sam, dragged them outside for a quick final photo - such a magical way to wrap up the night ✨

After a ceremony at Little Cove, the bridal party headed off for a few shots around some Port Douglas - soaking up the last moments of daylight.

Then it was back to party the night away at the Rainforest grotto!!

Yesterday, Alex and Aaron were married in a beautiful ceremony on the deck at Sapphire Ridge, overlooking the Palm Cove beach.

As a nod to their love of Taylor Swift, they exchanged personalised friendship bracelets along with their wedding rings - and even made one for each of their guests too!

After the ceremony, we headed down to Palm Cove for a few shots amongst the coconut trees and on the beautiful beach … but not without a quick stop en-route for a couple of spins on the slot machines!!

Down at the beach, Alex and Aaron exchanged their private vows, with just the two of them … this is such a beautiful way to still share promises to each other, but avoid having to speak in front of everyone during the ceremony 🥰🥰

Then it was back to Sapphire Ridge for a chill (tropical) evening… a perfect end to a stunning wedding day.

On Saturday, Kate and Nick celebrated their beautiful wedding day in Port Douglas.

After a ceremony at Little Cove, the bridal party headed off for a few shots around some Port Douglas - soaking up the last moments of daylight.

Then it was back to party the night away at the Rainforest grotto!!

Such a fun engagement shoot with these two beautiful humans 😍

We made the call to delay this shoot a few times over the last couple of months, waiting for the wet, windy weather to clear up. I’m stoked we did - because we were blessed with the most perfect afternoon you could possibly imagine!

Yesterday, Alex and Aaron were married in a beautiful ceremony on the deck at Sapphire Ridge, overlooking the Palm Cove beach.

As a nod to their love of Taylor Swift, they exchanged personalised friendship bracelets along with their wedding rings - and even made one for each of their guests too!

After the ceremony, we headed down to Palm Cove for a few shots amongst the coconut trees and on the beautiful beach … but not without a quick stop en-route for a couple of spins on the slot machines!!

Down at the beach, Alex and Aaron exchanged their private vows, with just the two of them … this is such a beautiful way to still share promises to each other, but avoid having to speak in front of everyone during the ceremony 🥰🥰

Then it was back to Sapphire Ridge for a chill (tropical) evening… a perfect end to a stunning wedding day.
