SEEING THE LIGHT
A workshop for wedding photographers
(and other photographers too!)
We’re excited to announce our 2025 Cairns photography workshop – ‘Seeing the Light‘.
Over the past 10 years, we have run this workshop across New Zealand & Australia, to over 100 wedding photographers.
Here are some details about the day :
Overview :
The focus of the workshop is on finding, using, and creating dramatic and interesting lighting. Including :
- Natural light – looking for interesting lighting in “normal” situations (bride & groom prep, creative shoot)
- Off-camera flash – creative portraits using flash
- Creating dramatic backlit rain photos
- Using video lights at a wedding reception
- On-camera flash on the dancefloor & in dark venues
Structure :
- The workshop includes a mix of seminar style learning, live demonstrations, and then a shooting section where you can try out the techniques and setups we have been learning.
- The are two shooting sessions – one in daylight focusing on natural light, and one at night focusing on flash / added light.
Level / Audience :
- Because we are primarily wedding photographers, the workshop is structured around wedding photography. However, portrait photographers will also find the content applicable.
- Having an understanding of using your camera in manual mode is ideal for this workshop.
- You don’t necessarily need to know anything about using flash or video light – as we cover from the basics & build up.
