Alison & Ben were married in Kalbar – a little town in the Scenic Rim, an hour outside Brisbane. To be fair – I hadn’t actually heard of the Scenic Rim before… as I drove out through Ipswich and into the rural countryside I was totally loving the scenery! Especially the clumps of scrubby forest – more on that later.

I arrived just in time to catch Alison & Ben having a quick wedding rehearsal on the Friday afternoon, and then headed out for a bit of location scouting. The field right behind their wedding location was perfect for some gorgeous late afternoon backlight – and I managed to get permission to access one of those scrubby forest tree locations, conveniently just a couple of minutes up the road. Score!

The wedding day rolled around, and it was shaping up to be a warm one – not a cloud in sight.
The boys got ready in a beautiful house out near Tarome – nestled in the base of the hills, such a beautiful setting. I headed back from there to catch up with the girls – who were just up the road from the wedding venue at a little cottage in Kalbar.

Quick shoutout to Alison’s brother Cameron – not only did he play / sing her down the aisle, but he also crafted a sweet beer truck – like actually made a giant keg, refurbed an old truck, and rigged it up to serve drinks on the day. Epic effort!

After their ceremony, the guests enjoyed lawn games & a delicious grazing table – and then we headed out for a few minutes to grab some photos with Alison & Ben. Putting our ‘pose less, party more‘ motto into effect, I wanted to keep this part of the day as short & sweet as possible … and we nailed some beautiful images in a short space of time!

As we arrived back at the reception & the sun set, I noticed a cool image looking through the fairy lights on the fence. Luckily, I was able to talk Alison & Ben into venturing back into the paddock & walking down opposite the fence, so I could get the blurry lights in the foreground, and the sunset skies as the backdrop.

The great thing about being out in the Scenic Rim area is the lack of light pollution from nearby cities – meaning that the skies are perfect for star photos!
We wrapped things up for the night by venturing into the paddock (again – sorry!) – for a rad star photo.
